RESOLUTION NO. 14-00
A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITIES OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND LAFAYETTE CONCERNING
THE MAINTENANCE OF THE JOHN MEYERS PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
WHEREAS, the Cities of West Lafayette and Lafayette
have previously entered into interlocal agreements leading to
the reconstruction of the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge; and,
WHEREAS, the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge has
become an important transportation and symbolic link between the
two cities; and
WHEREAS, the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge has become a
focal point for Levee Redevelopment and community activities; and
WHEREAS, the cities have arranged for the Downtown
Business Center to undertake the role of managing and programming
community activities on the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge; and
WHEREAS, after several years of experience with regular
maintenance of the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge, the cities desire to
make suitable arrangements to improve such maintenance arrangements,
including expanding the role of the Downtown Business Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Lafayette, the City of
Lafayette entered into the attached Interlocal Agreement;
BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of
West Lafayette that:
1. The attached Interlocal Agreement between the City
of West Lafayette and the City of Lafayette concerning the regular
maintenance of the John Meyers Pedestrian Bridge is hereby approved.
2. This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor.
